What exactly is a wiki page?

  • A wiki page is a peice of server software that allows users to freely create and edit Web page content using any Web browser.

Purposes of a Wiki Page:

  • Every student can access or edit the page that the teacher posts, for easier communication and interaction
  • Allows students to work together from differnent locations

  • Wikis are extremely flexible allowing any site structure to be created
  • Wiki functionality makes them ideal for collaborative writing applications.

Teacher Uses for a Wiki:

(Dana Sherman)

  • Allows teachers to communicate with parents, students, and other teachers from different locations
  • Teachers can post discussion forms, readings, project, and homework assignments for students, where they can directly comment an edit on each page
  • Makes it easier for teachers to communicate with their students as well as creates more interactions between the teacher and the student as well as interactions between all the students
